Help Prepare Abandoned Baby Swans to Be Released Back Into the Wild

This swan family was found wandering on a busy highway, prompting concerned drivers to call dispatch. Authorities contacted the Humane Indiana Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center because of their expertise with animals like this.

Unfortunately, before the family was able to be ushered off the road, the mother and father fled, leaving the cygnets (babies) to fend for themselves. Staff from Humane Indiana Wildlife had hoped to reunite them with their parents, but they were unable to do so.

Trumpeter swans are an endangered species in Indiana. In 2017, a pair of these swans hatched an offspring there for the first time since modern birdwatching records began. As a result, their care is very important. Will you help give this swan family and other abandoned young the space they need to be reared?

Greater Good Charities' Rescue Rebuild program is headed to the Humane Indiana Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center for an exciting renovation this June, and you can be part of the project!
