Quality materials unite with striking style in these sleek candlestick holder sets. Handcarved in Mozambique from native blackwood and fair-trade imported through Aid to Artisans.
Aid to Artisans is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating economic opportunities for craftspeople in developing nations. Most of ATA's artisan partners in Mozambique are wood carvers with a long history of craft production. Although men traditionally used precious woods for craft production, ATA is conscious of the fact that the trees are becoming increasingly scarce, and is committed to conservation and judicious use of natural resources.

Bright Endeavors is a Chicago non-profit social enterprise that manufactures and markets eco-friendly home and bath products, helping single parents (aged 17-24) transition into economic stability. Bright Endeavors provides on-the-job experience to some of Chicago’s most at-risk youth. Bright Endeavors is a green business, using vegetable waxes, natural botanicals, Dead Sea salts and reclaimed and recycled glass. Each product is handmade and packaged by motivated program participants.
All proceeds are used to support programming for new moms and to place participants into quality, permanent employment. Bright Endeavors transforms the lives of young moms by teaching them to craft premium soy candles in a supportive, professional environment. Through the paid transitional jobs program, they provide the guidance and job skills young moms need to secure quality employment and achieve a lifetime of personal success.
These are beautiful! Sleek and classy. Be aware that 'blackwood' is not all black. There could be brown markings in the wood and this is normal. Does not detract from the beauty.
