Give a book to a child who needs it most!
According to the American Federation of Teachers, 32.4 million American children go without access to books. Countless others do not have a single book to call their own. There is perhaps no greater equalizer in the early years of intellectual development than that of education through reading. It is imperative to give children from low-income families access to inspiring books to help break the cycle of poverty. Their future depends on it.
GreaterGood.org partners with Kids Need to Read to provide books and literacy programs vital to the success of disadvantaged children throughout the United States.
By incorporating books, educational caregiver handouts, stuffed reading buddies, live presentations, and summer reading packages, Kids Need to Read engages children AND their caregivers with a foundational focus on increasing reading proficiency skills. In the process, every delivery of books brings another opportunity to help these communities help themselves toward a brighter future.
You can help. Just $5 provides 20 books to disadvantaged children with limited access to books. Together, we can help more children read!
Kids Need to Read works to create a culture of reading for children by providing inspiring books to underfunded schools, libraries, and literacy programs across the United States, especially those serving disadvantaged children.
